Fast Implementation of LMS Adaptive Filters

In [ 11, it was asserted that a spectral line tracker basedupon the maximum entropy spectral estimator provides a “significantimprovement in tracking performance” over a line tracker basedon theFourier transform spectral estimator. It is shown that the poor perfor-mance of the Fourier transform tracker wasdue in part to the particularimplementation of the tracker. In fact, at low signal-to-noise ratiosthecapabilities of the maximum entropy and Fouriertransform spectral es-timates to track time-varying spectral ines are nearly identical.
